Week 5: Lesson 2 Loss of an Eye

Its hard to imagine the loss of an eye or even another body part. My very own grandfather lost his right hand due to a corn picker. Even though it has been hard on him, he has always went through life as if it has never held him back. WV Uncovered has a great video about my grandfather, he briefly talks about the loss of his limb and how he has overcome this obstacle.

Thus far you have learned how glass eyes have been used to replace the loss of an eye. The big question is, how does one deal with the loss of an eye or even another body part? Artificial Eyes is a great website that offers insight into adjusting and adapting to the loss of an eye. Using the interactive website, adjusting and adapting to eye loss will help you to complete the goal for today's assignment.

Goal of Assignment: Using the information that has been provided you will need to research and answer the questions listed. Once you have researched the information you will present this in a podcast or cartoon.

Questions:
  1. Research:  Using the interactive map, describe three ways in which individuals adapt to loosing an eye?
  2. Research: What is monocular vision and how do individuals adapt to having monocular vision?
  3. Opinion: Create a podcast or cartoon that describes how you would adapt to the loss of an eye or another body part?
